Defiant Nancy insists he is not worried about dismissal yet the Parkhead faithful display anger after loss.
The under-pressure manager stated he was not afraid of dismissal, claiming, “The team is extremely close to changing our fortunes,” despite moving dangerously close to the exit with a comprehensive setback against the Ibrox side.
A Second-Half Meltdown Results in Derby Defeat
The home side were in front their oldest rivals at the break but a disastrous second period enabled Rangers to pull level on points with the defending league title holders. The former MLS manager, who was hired from the MLS, has now been in charge for six defeats in eight fixtures.
“The board and I are united with the board,” insisted Nancy.
Pressed on his own future, he responded: “That’s not my focus. I concentrate on working out methods to get the team to excel on small moments.
Protest Outside Parkhead
Hundreds of supporters displayed their anger – towards the dugout and directors – by gathering at Parkhead. The board are thought to be considering to bring back the interim manager, who enjoyed a successful interim spell previously, if the Frenchman were sacked.
“Wins and losses [that leads to pressure]. So this is the reality for the moment. However when I say this is the reality, that is not a sign that I am giving up. Absolutely not. What I mean we are on the cusp, extremely close to reverse our form.”
Focus on the Details
Nancy highlights the fact Celtic can perform strongly for a half at a time. In fact, were it not for wastefulness in front of goal they could have been better than 1-0 up. “I saw enough other than the fact that we didn't take more goals,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but I must remain balanced.
“The standard we had at stages was exceptionally high. That is a fact. And I would not say that if it was different. That is the reason, regarding outcomes, I mentioned it's a repeating pattern. For that reason I feel a change is coming to things turning around. But for the moment: small things.”
“I saw many, many good things that we did, like today again. However it’s about sustaining it. My outlook would change if I didn't believe it. This is why I am a big believer the team can to turn things around.”
Opposition Reaction Outlook
The victorious boss was cautious about a title charge even after what appeared to be a landmark win. “We take it game by game, and we can gradually build momentum,” he said. “The confidence in the team is excellent.”
