Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has died aged 24.
The Cowboys selected the Cowboys in the second round of the draft in the 2024 NFL Draft and appeared in 18 games for the team, including four starts.
He recorded his initial touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"He was a cherished team member and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 draft after his college career for Western Michigan University.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart aches" for the loss of the athlete who "gave his all" into each opportunity.
"I saw him strive his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a goal to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.
The NFL stated it is "profoundly grieved" by the news.
