Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup Versus the Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their initial Fall Classic after 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the anticipated World Series.
"It's incredible for everyone here, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "This is such an amazing experience."
George Springer has now slugged 23 total October home runs, ranking him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation except for him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.
The Mariners, after leading the early in the series, remain the one club yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" following his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but praised their work throughout the year.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of the series," he added.
Toronto secured the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
